Izelia Golatt and Kristen Rodgers may have been together on the night that Rodgers died...but that doesn't prove Golatt killed her.

That's the defense case at the trial this week for Golatt, who's accused of strangling Rodgers during an apparent drug deal last March. Testimony on Monday was aimed at showing that Rodgers was attacked, and had signs of being choked. Defense attorney Alan Beattie opened the trial by arguing that the prosecution just doesn't have the evidence to prove the death was murder.  The Golatt trial is scheduled for most of this week. The defense may start calling witnesses today.

3 Injured In Floor Collapse In Lax Apartment

Written by

Fire investigators in La Crosse are trying to figure out why a floor collapsed in an upstairs apartment on 6th Street this weekend...

Three people were injured in the accident at 135 South 6th, across the street from the cathedral. The building has been condemned, and cordoned off with police tape. A floor area of 30 by 30 feet collapsed around 11 o'clock on Saturday night. As many as 50 people may have been on that floor when it gave way. Firefighters shut off natural gas to the building after they found a gas leak.
