Celebrate Life, the 22nd annual event saluting area cancer survivors and their families will be held from 5 to 7 p.m tonight in the South Hall of the La Crosse Center. More than 1,800 people are expected to attend.
The free community-wide picnic in honor of National Cancer Survivorship Day, is open to anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer and their families. Doctors, nurses and other staff will join in the festivities.

A Holmen man could be in court today on a homicide charge, resulting from a hit-and-run crash last month...
Damien Mracek has been arrested, and is now in the La Crosse County jail, with bond set at 100-thousand dollars. Police say Mracek ran from the scene of a crash near Bangor on May 22nd, after his car hit another vehicle head-on. The other driver, 75-year-old Darel Skolos, never regained consciousness, and died more than a week after the accident. Besides the homicide charge, Mracek could be charged for violating probation in another case.

The La Crosse Congressman tells reporters that he doesn't plan to challenge Scott Walker in the 2014 election. Kind has been mentioned frequently as a possible Democratic candidate for governor. But while attending the state Democratic convention over the weekend, Kind said he was keeping his options open for a possible challenge to Republican Senator Ron Johnson in 2016.
The body of a 61-year-old man was found in the Bluff Slough on Saturday afternoon, along Green Island. The man's identity has not been released yet. The La Crosse Fire Department was called out when an empty fishing boat was seen on the water. The body was found shortly after 2:30 p.m.
