A Monroe County jury has found a former pastor guilty on one count of sexual assault of a child as a persistent repeater and five counts of child enticement. 66 year old Michael Delaney of Tomah will spend the rest of his life in prison for sexually assaulting a child.
Delaney had been accused of engaging in sexual acts with a young boy, and showing him pornography at his home and in a semi truck.
Delaney pleaded guilty in 1983 to two felony counts of sexual abuse.

Cops were checking to see who was handing out candy last night, and in Sparta, cops busted the Joker.
Sparta police and a probation agent were conducting compliance checks on offenders who prohibited from participating in Halloween Trick or Treat festivities. Police found that 24 year old Vincent Bell from Sparta, had his porch light on and was dressed up as The Joker. Bell also had a bowl of candy ready to give out to children.
Bell was found to be in violation of his probation rules and taken into custody.

Community development specialist Brian Fukuda has come up with a ballpark value, in case developers want to build on the block between State and Vine where the courthouse stood 50 years ago. Fukuda suggests that the lot could sell for around $1.5 million. A space study just presented to the county suggests that new county offices could be built on the north end of that parking lot...at the loss of about 100 surface parking stalls. Fukuda says he checked into the possible value of the block, after hearing comments that the courthouse lot is only worth about a dollar.

The city's park board is denying a request to trap muskrats in a conservancy area near Highway 53. A citizen asked the park department for permission to set traps in retention ponds at the Greens Coulee Park. Alderman Erik Sjolander tells us the park board could not find evidence that muskrats are creating a nuisance in that area. Outdoor experts say the price of muskrat pelts has increased sharply in the Midwest over the last two years.
