La Crosse Area Day at Miller Park and Explore La Crosse congratulates State Championship Logan High School Girls Softball Team. The team will receive special recognition during pre-game festivities on the field at Miller Park on Thursday as part of the 18th Annual La Crosse Area Day at Miller Park.
Logan High School Activities Director Steve Hole says the team is very excited. He says not only are they outstanding student athletes and one of the best teams he's ever worked with but they are amazing ambassadors for La Crosse and the state of Wisconsin.
It's the first time a City of La Crosse high school softball team has won the state title and the first WIAA championship for any Logan Rangers girls sport. La Crosse Area Day continues to be the largest community event held at Miller Park each year. Tickets for the trip are still available at the Visitor and Convention Bureau.

Dan Toomey is president of the Wisconsin U-S-O. The U-S-O will be opening a lounge at the La Crosse Airport early next year.
The process of annexing to either Onalaska or Holmen may soon become much easier...and less contentious. The two communities are working on a cooperative land use plan, which would establish County Highway OT as the dividing line between those local governments. Onalaska land use director Brea Grace says the agreement could fan 'the flame of cooperation' with Holmen. The boundary proposal will be explained at a public hearing this Wednesday night at 6, at the Omni Center.
Trying to do a wheelie on a motorcycle did not turn out well for a rider in Genoa this weekend. Forty-six-year-old Michael Townsend of Hillsboro lost control of his cycle while attempting the wheelie on Main Street in Genoa. Sheriff's officers say Townsend was thrown from the bike, and hit a parked vehicle. He was taken to Gundersen in La Crosse with life-threatening injuries after the Saturday afternoon accident. Alcohol may have been a factor.
