Elder Theft in La Crosse
Elder abuse comes in many forms. One of the biggies: identity theft. Like a case in La Crosse this week. A woman stealing her mother's i-d to get a credit card and rack up charges. At the La Crosse county aging unit, Tina Johnson has seen kids rip off their elder parents in various ways including the credit card bit, but also writing checks off their parent's account, or forcing the parent to buy their groceries, too. Johnson says some children justify stealing from their parents. They believe they deserve to get paid for helping out.
