Kapanke Cleared by Accountability Board

No harm, no foul for State Senator Dan Kapanke. Wisconsin's Government AccounTability Board says Kapanke didn't violate state ethics rules in paying for and staffing a couple of economic forums in La Crosse. Kapanke had asked for the board's input after the state's democratic party accused the Republican of violating state campaign rules by having a staffer work on the economic forums that were paid for out of campaign funds. The Board agreed that campaign cash was used and that the senator's staffer did work on the event. But both things occurred within state campaign rule guidelines. The Board also said, considering how the process of planning the forums transpired, Kapanke handled everything as well as could be expected.
